Welcome to the capacity building program of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP)!

Committed to the development of a competitive, sustainable, inclusive and secure maritime sector in the Americas, the CIP Secretariat offers a vast capacity building program that includes topics such as:

  • Port competitiveness and logistics;
  • Port operations and management;
  • Port security and safety;
  • Port technology, operations and environmental management;
  • Intermodal transportation;
  • Women in port management
  • Container terminals; among others.

The CIP Secretariat partners with key leaders in the maritime and port sectors to develop specialized and state of the art programs that provide participants an international perspective on real life challenges, and strategic actions to promote efficient port operations.

Using the most advanced methodologies and techniques, including field trips and online platforms, our courses and seminars offer participants the opportunity to exchange best practices with top port officials to achieve the highest level of knowledge.

Thanks to all our partners, the CIP Secretariat is happy to inform all CIP Members and Associate Members that the number of scholarships has increased by 254% from 2012 to 2016. Most significantly, there is an 83% increase in donor contribution and 100% public-private donor contributions since 2012.
