Port Promotion and Private Sector Cooperation
Promoting the Ports of the Americas and Private Sector Cooperation are one of the four main objectives of the Inter-American Committee for Ports (CIP).
The CIP considers working with the private sector vital for the development of a vibrant port sector. We believe that the role of the State is to facilitate the involvement of the private sector as a partner in development through tax and/or incentive policies. The Private Sector is, after all, the main innovator and Public-Private-Partnerships (PPP) have proved to be an effective instrument for successful port development projects. Therefore, the CIP Secretariat places enormous value on private sector participation and proudly counts over 90 private sector and/or international organization/NGOs as Associate Members and Strategic Partners.
Significantly, the CIP Maritime Award of the Americas includes important participation from the Private Sector.
