It is an honor to address the hemispheric port community as Vice Chair of the Executive Board of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CECIP), representing the Dominican Republic and the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM).

I assume this responsibility at a decisive moment for the sector: international trade is undergoing a period of accelerated reconfiguration, marked by nearshoring, the digitalization of port operations, and the growing demand for sustainability and social inclusion in the development of our ports. The Dominican Republic has experienced this transformation firsthand, modernizing its port infrastructure under a public-private partnership model that today positions us as a relevant logistics actor in the Caribbean.

From this Vice Chairmanship, I will work alongside the Member States to strengthen technical cooperation, promote the competitiveness of the ports of the hemisphere, and move toward a more efficient, secure, and connected regional port system. Our commitment is that American ports not only move cargo and passengers, but also become true engines of economic and social development for their countries and communities.
