II Hemispheric Conference on Port Security: Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Capabilities for Secure Ports in the Americas

Organized by the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP) of the Organization of the American States (OAS) and the Maritime Administration of the US Department of Transportation (MARAD), with the financial support from the United States Department of State, and in partnership with the University of Miami Center for International Business Education & Research (CIBER), the conference will provide an international platform for dialogue at the highest governmental and corporate levels to address key aspects of port security and disaster risk management.
Decision-makers from public and private entities, as well as representatives from academia and civil society will share successful practices in secure port operations, specifically in state of crisis, and discuss strategic actions that promote the implementation of efficient disaster risk management.
During Roundtable Discussions, industry experts will offer a series of recommendations for tackling the security and logistical challenges of the region’s port and maritime industry in response to the devastating impact of natural disasters.
