The Government of Mexico, through the Secretariat of the Navy, represented by the Ports and Merchant Marine Unit of the Undersecretariat of Maritime and Port Affairs, assumes with honor the Chair of the Executive Board of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CECIP) of the OAS for the period 2026-2029. This appointment reaffirms Mexico's commitment to regional integration and the strengthening of the port community of the Americas.

The management will promote a strategic agenda aimed at regional cooperation, the exchange of best practices, infrastructure modernization, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, maritime-port security and the development of human capital, in accordance with the Bridgetown Resolution and the 2026-2029 Action Plan.

Mexico will work in coordination with the six Technical Advisory Groups, made up of National Port Authorities, to promote initiatives that strengthen the resilience of port systems, foster technological innovation and contribute to the fulfillment of the sustainable development goals related to maritime transport.

Being the Chair of the CECIP is an opportunity to consolidate Mexico's leadership as a regional benchmark in maritime and port matters, promoting cooperation actions that promote competitiveness, international trade and economic development of the countries of the continent.
