I assume with deep commitment the Chairmanship of the Technical Advisory Group on Port-City Relation, Social Responsibility and Gender Equality of the Inter-American Committee on Ports.
Ports are no longer infrastructure isolated from their territories: they are an active part of the life of the cities and communities that surround them. From the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), we have promoted a port management model that seeks precisely that — that the growth of the sector translates into direct benefits for coastal populations, decent employment, local development, and a relationship of trust between the port authority and the city.
Gender equality and the empowerment of women in the maritime-port sector are, moreover, an unavoidable priority to modernize our industry and make it more representative of the societies it serves.
From this Group, I will work with the Member States to exchange good practices, strengthen port social responsibility policies, and advance concrete gender equity indicators throughout the region. My commitment is that this technical space translates into tangible results for the port communities of the hemisphere.

I am honored to assume the Vice Chairmanship of this Technical Advisory Committee, a space dedicated to issues that are currently critical to the port sector of the Americas.
The port-city relationship, social responsibility, and gender equity are an essential part of modern port management, one that is close to communities and committed to equal opportunities.
From Costa Rica, I reaffirm my willingness to work together with the Member States, exchanging experiences and best practices that strengthen our ports as true drivers of development and well-being.
