Online Course on Safety and Hygiene in Port Operations

The CEDEMAR Institute, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS), invites you to participate in the online course "Safety and Hygiene in Port Operations" a specialized training program aimed at professionals in the port sector interested in strengthening the management of safety, occupational health, and risk prevention in ports and maritime terminals.

The course will take place on September 10, 17, and 24, and October 1, 2026, with a total duration of 10 hours delivered virtually through the Zoom platform.

During four synchronous sessions, participants will acquire knowledge of the main conventions and recommendations of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), as well as the application of the IMDG Code for the safe handling of dangerous goods, the identification and mitigation of operational and psychosocial risks, the implementation of occupational safety and health management systems in accordance with the ISO 45001 standard, and the development of contingency plans for port operations.

The methodology combines presentations, case studies, practical exercises, partial evaluations, and a final assignment focused on the preparation of action plans applicable to the participants' ports.

The course will be taught in Spanish by Capt. Víctor M. Loustaunau A., a recognized specialist in maritime and port safety, and those who successfully complete the academic requirements will receive a digital certificate jointly issued by CEDEMAR and the Secretariat of the CIP/OAS.

The course fee is USD 295 per participant.
