The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of the American States (OAS), in coordination with Barbados Port Inc. (BPI), in its capacity as Chair of the CIP Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Port Security and Protection, and with the institutional support from the United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) and financial support from the United States Department of State through the United States Permanent Mission to the OAS (USOAS), is pleased to announce the 5th Hemispheric Conference on Port Security and Protection: Resilient Ports for a Resilient Hemisphere, to be held October 30, 31, and November 1, 2024, at the General Secretariat Building (GSB) of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington D.C..

In the productive context of successful practice and knowledge exchange, this Hemispheric event will bring together public and private decision-makers from the port and maritime sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities for increased resiliency in the region’s ports. Providing an international platform for dialogue at the highest governmental and corporate levels, the conference will address the competitive advantages of integrated risk management in ports and offer actionable recommendations to bolster security, operations, digitalization, and the use of emerging technologies.  During roundtable discussions, industry experts will identify strategic actions to help tackle security and logistical challenges faced by the port sector in the Americas.
