The General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine (CGPMM) of the Secretariat of the Navy, under the leadership of Captain Manuel Fernando Gutiérrez Gallardo, plays a pivotal role in advancing the logistics, innovation, and competitiveness of port operations in Mexico, thereby strengthening trade and the national merchant marine.

As Chair of the Technical Advisory Committee on Logistics, Innovation, and Competitiveness of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS), Mexico is committed to fostering regional cooperation and development. This commitment encompasses prioritizing new investments, providing competitive port services, optimizing operational and administrative processes, and implementing technological, regulatory, safety, protection, and sustainability improvements to ensure efficient goods exchange.

The role of the CGPMM involves promoting best practices among the various actors in the national and regional port community, ensuring that the infrastructure of Mexican ports and their operations are aligned with cutting-edge technologies and efficient, sustainable methodologies. This approach not only reinforces Mexico's leadership in port development but also establishes a benchmark for regional collaboration.

Through the OAS-CIP platform, the CGPMM strengthens cooperation ties within the port community, ultimately contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the logistics chain in the Americas.
