20th Ibero-American Course on Port Technology, Operations and Environmental Management

The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP) of the Organization of the American States (OAS) and Puertos del Estado de España, in a joint effort to contribute to the development of competitive, sustainable, safe, efficient and inclusive ports through capacity building and strengthening of institutional capabilities, are pleased to announce the opening of the call for applications for the XX Ibero-American Course on Port Technology , Operations and Environmental Management, to take place from May 8 to June 4, 2020, in Santander, Spain.

The organizers will award a maximum of twenty (20) scholarships, distributed between the two specialties of the course: (i) Port Operations and, (ii) Environmental Management. Please find attached the bases of the call and the application form (Spanish only). Each applicant must submit to the S/CIP the complete documents indicated in the call for applications by e-mail to mambriz@oas.org, Cc. cip@oas.orgno later than March 23, 2020.

 

In this edition of the Ibero-American Course on Technology, Operations and Environmental Management, students will also have the opportunity to attend the following events that will take place in Santander:

Third Santander Cruise Forum

Wednesday, May 6 (9:30 a.m. - 14:00 hours)

Organized by the Santander Port Authority, the Forum will bring together a group of experts in the cruise industry that will share their points of view and best practices on business models, market trends, and strategies to promote cities as cruise destinations and its impact.

Third International Logistics Meeting

Thursday, May 7 (09:30 - 14:00 / 15:00 - 17:30 h)

Organized by the Santander Port Authority, the Meeting will allow participants to discuss the evolution of the port sector, especially in shipping. It will also provide an overview for a better understanding of current changes, uncertainty and growing competitiveness in which ports operate.

 

The organizers will offer the 20 students of the Course free registration to the Forum and Meeting, as well as accommodation and meals from May 5thPlease note that the Course, Forum and Meeting will be held in Spanish only, so proficiency in the language is mandatory.

 

In order to verify that the application and support documents are properly completed and correct, the S/CIP recommends the candidates to send their applications before the deadline.
