The Guide to Environmental Certification and Sustainability Reporting for Ports of the Americas is a reference tool offered by the Inter-American Committee on Ports to ports and terminals in the Americas to highlight the importance of environmental protection in their business setting.

This tool provides ports with general information to establish a plan of action and make a commitment to continual improvement based on the planning and structure suggested in the Guide.

The Improved Disaster Risk Management for Ports in the Caribbean Project was implemented in four phases (capabilities assessment; plan development; training workshops; drills and exercises), and one of the key outputs of this initiative is the Model Emergency Operations Plan (MEOP) for Caribbean Ports. The Plan, led by the CIP Secretariat and prepared by a team of experts from HudsonTrident in consultation with CDEMA, CSA, PMAC, the Organization of American States (OAS) Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) Risk Management Division, and USCG, lays a comprehensive foundation for an EOP that may be adapted based on a Port’s individual characteristics and/or disaster risk management requirements.

The Risk Analysis Matrix for Port Facility Protection Officers was created and written by Dr. Noe Cuervo Vásquez from consulting and training company “Dr. Cuervo Consultores”. The Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports currently holds the rights for the use and dissemination of the Matrix.

The Matrix is a practical tool used to be able to discern in a quantitative way a risk analysis of threats that could occur in ports and thus implement the evaluations to their port security plans in a better way.

Study conducted by Dr. Elizalde Director of the Western Regional Law Department of the School of Social Sciences and Government of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Guadalajara, Mexico, which aims to provide recommendations and suggestions to generate a national regulatory framework for the use of single windows and disruptive technologies in ports.
