Organized by the National Port Administration (ANP) of Uruguay and the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS), the IV Hemispheric Seminar on Public Policies, Legislation and Regulation: Integrated Legislation for Port Modernization, was held virtually on March 29 and 30, 2023, from Montevideo, Uruguay, and provided an international platform for public-private dialogue at the highest level to address the key aspects of legislation that can help boost port modernization.

Industry leaders and decision makers from public and private entities, as well as academia shared trends and strategic actions to promote maritime-port legislation as a catalyst for a modern and competitive sector, with an emphasis on digitalization, “green” legislation and risk management, among others.

Topics included:
  • Regulatory frameworks for port digitalization;
  • Green legislation to boost competitiveness;
  • Regulations on risk management for resilient ports;
  • Legislation in the context of port concessions.
