5th Hemispheric Conference on Waterways, Inland and Cruise Ports

On behalf of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS), I am pleased to inform you of the upcoming 5th Hemispheric Conference on Waterways, Inland and Cruise Ports: strengthening safety and resilience, organized jointly with Argentina’s National Ports and Navigation Agency (ANPYN), in its capacity as Chair of the Technical Advisory Group on the subject matter of the event.

The conference will be held virtually on the mornings of April 28 and 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. (Argentina time), and will feature simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and English. This event will provide an international platform for public-private dialogue, bringing together decision-makers from governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society to share experiences and best practices in inland waterway and cruise transport, with a focus on the economic benefits of an integrated and resilient port system.

Preliminary topics include:

• Inland waterways as strategic logistics corridors
• Cruise port infrastructure: towards more resilient ports
• Sustainable dredging for enhanced port competitiveness
• Digitalization and smart ports in inland waterway systems
• Safety and risk management in Caribbean cruise ports
• Human capital and capacity building for the future of the port sector
